Arranged Marriage Fics: Your Thoughts?

Hello me again ^.^

So I've been browsing through the featured section, and...is it just me or are most of the fics either about Exo or arranged marriages? Now I have nothing against Exo I really don't care for the group I know they have talent, but I'm just not crazy about them sorry fans ^^; But anywho! The arranged marriage fics seem to be quite popular lately O__O

I mean I personally don't mind reading that stuff because I've said this many, many times: Everything we all write is cliched that's the cold hard truth.

But we can make it interesting no? That's what I try to do anyway but I think I fail on that ._____.

What are your thoughts though on arranged marriage fics? Yes people arranged marriages still occur today because I heard this one user say they don't even exist anymore, but if I'm mistaken don't they still have them in countries like India? Correct me if I'm wrong though ^^; I may do an arranged marriage fic one of these days but I'll be sure to do research on it at least as I know nothing about arranged marriages XD

So what do you guys think? Arranged marriages too boring and uninteresting, or if they are well-written are they interesting?

 

And PS: If you ever have the time you've GOT to check out this Yunjae fanfic 'That Patient from Hell' it's just pure genius! The only featured fic that deserves to be featured in my opinion, I read it way before it even got featured and was so happy an author that writes very well got featured kudos to Kim_Aiko :D <3

In this era, seems like every idea had been pop up and could be too mainstream. I didn't against arranged marriage stories, but I tend to read if the story is interesting.

My point is, every idea could be boring, and cliche, but even so let's think that it is a challenge for us to be creative in making our story, how we plot and make it realistic, explore from psychological side, and make the difference..

And I don't like arranged marriage fics. Seens them alllll before. >.<

The problem is changing the plot in a way so that its still about an arranged marriage but is a lot more unique. I think arranged marriages are also popular in very controlled societies like with Muslims as well as Indians.

I have read a few, and yes, in my opinion it is quite cliche, but if the author is good enough then it can be pretty good. However, the thing is that most people that right them are not the best authors.

I do like arranged marriage fics if they are well written! And what I mean by that is, if it has a good and strong storyline. Some can be pretty interesting! It is cliché, but not that bad. Although what I see around here is... just not good. People don't even know the basics (even the format!) of a story and how to write it and they may even have good ideas, but it just doesn't work.

And I believe arranged marriages still exist, not only in countries like India, I mean in every country. And in an economical basis too, I believe so!

I agree, but instead of the arranged marriage working out perfectly how about they guys like HORRIBLE and she falls in love with someone else. In the end she never even falls for her husband. My cousin was in an arranged marriage and she didn't feel happy, even though he was gorgious. She had feelings that were strong but she never had a say. People should portray that instead of the "OMG I LOVE YOU NOW." It doesn't work that well.

they are ALL the same. they hate eachother, they fell in love, some chick that was knocked up by the guy comes in the picture, in the end it wasn't his child, they live a peaceful live. Or something like that. It's just plain boring.
