Siwan – Hyungshik One-Shot

He stood from afar, gently admiring the other boy’s handsome features. His flawless skin, his luscious hair, his almond eyes and his soft lips; everything about him captivated him. Though he wants to get to know the male more; he was satisfied with watching from afar. For now.

---

“Hey, have you guys heard the latest news?” Hyungshik’s classmate said the moment he approached the group. Seeing as they shook their heads, he rolled his eyes. “Seriously?”

“Just get on with it,” Hyungshik said, getting annoyed. “Hurry up,”

The classmate pouted. “Anyhow, it said that the freshmen – us – will be partnering up with the seniors for a performance by the end of the month,” he said, ecstatic and soon enough, the rest of the group followed him. Hyungshik only yawned.

“Who do you want to have as a partner?” one classmate asked.

The other students started saying their choices. “Junyoung-sunbae,” “Kevin-sunbae,” “Kwanghee-sunbae,”

“Honestly, I think the perfect partner would be Im Siwan-sunbae,” one of the students said. The others voiced their agreement. “Sadly, the pairings are random,” the others pouted. “How about you Hyungshik? Who do you want as a partner?”

“I don’t care,” he said nonchalantly.

---

Later that day, the freshmen and seniors found themselves in the school’s auditorium. A lot were chattering among themselves when the principal arrived. “I’m sure you’ve heard so I’ll cut right to the chase and pick the pairs,”

After almost an hour of picking and calling names; there were only a few students left who were still available. “Okay, next pair,” the principal picked two papers; one from the freshmen and one from the seniors. “Park Hyungshik, freshmen and Im Siwan, senior,”

The two boys stood and met each other’s eyes before walking out of the auditorium. “We should plan for the performance,” Siwan said, an attempt to start a conversation.

Hyungshik only nodded. In a matter of minutes, the two boys found themselves in the garden. Hyungshik sat under the shade of a tree while Siwan positioned himself on a bench. “What can you do?” Hyungshik asked, finally talking.

Siwan was caught off-guard by the question. Hyungshik looked at him, waiting for an answer. “I can sing. But mostly, I play the violin better,”

Hyungshik shrugged and yawned. “Let’s do a music performance,”

Siwan’s interest was piqued. “What do you have in mind?”

“You teach me some basic things with the violin then let’s play a piece but in the middle, let’s stop and sing,” Hyungshik said.

Siwan looked impressed. “Okay, let’s do it,” he grinned.

Hyungshik stared at him. “Remove that stupid grin of your face,”

Siwan pouted. “Anyway, let’s start working tomorrow, okay?” Hyungshik said before standing up and leaving.

---

Day after day, Siwan and Hyungshik would meet up during lunch and free periods to practice. Although the two boys got a lot closer, Siwan started avoiding Hyungshik and would make excuses to skip practices.

One day, Hyungshik got fed up and went to Siwan’s classroom. Seeing the boy sitting, he approached him. He looked at Siwan. “We need to talk,” he said, grabbing the elder’s arm and dragging him towards the rooftop.

“What,” Siwan tried to act annoyed but failed and looked away from Hyungshik.

        “You’ve been avoiding me,”

Siwan flinched. “There’s nothing wrong with that. We’ve perfected our performance so I see no reason to keep seeing each other,” he paused. “And, I’m sure you have a lot of things-,”

        “Do you dislike me?”

Siwan was taken aback by the question. “What do you mean?”

“Are you avoiding me because you don’t like me?” Hyungshik asked, placing his hands on Siwan’s shoulders.

“That’s not it,” Siwan trailed off.

“Honestly, I like you,” Hyungshik confessed.

Siwan couldn’t believe his ears. He stared at Hyungshik. “I’m serious, hyung. I really do,” he removed his hands from Siwan’s shoulders. “I’ve been admiring you from afar ever since I came here,” he looked away. “I always have. I’m not expecting you to like me back-,”

Hyungshik was cut off when he felt lips on his. “Does that answer your question?” Siwan asked a light blush on his cheeks.

---

A few days later, the two performed at the end-of-the month performance. Their performance was not only good; it captivated the audience and was given a big applause. But for the two of them, there was only the two of them on that auditorium; they were performing for each other.
