Standing at 5'7" ( 171 cm ) and weighing 123 lbs ( 53 kg ), this boy's quite the slim fellow. he had quite the soft and boyish charm to him, along with very delicate and beautiful hands. his smile had to be the most charming aspect to him, though, with light smile wrinkles ( that haebin complained about because why did he get the cute smile wrinkles and not the grandpa ones ) and eyes crinkling up to crescent shapes. but his most notable feature was his left eye, which was totally blind and of a cloudy white color which meant that he was totally blind in that eye. yes, he's born with a single, blind eye and tends to cover it up with an eyepatch. sometimes he wore a monocle ( but couldn't close his blind eye as that would lead to his good eye closing too as it followed his good eye's motion ) not only for the style, but so he could maintain a good eyesight on his good eye. his left eye was also slightly lazy but isn't completely dead like some other people with the same condition.

so very diligent was he, constantly working with all his effort to reach his vision of perfection. he's sure he'd never be like so, due to his disability and other negative aspects of him which he could not help but always notice. but he did not wallow in self-pity or the sort of such things, rather, he made sure to dedicate himself to be able to overcome it. especially when it came to music and his current career. he didn't want to disappoint those who believed in him like haebin or his parents who let him do this. he was idealistic, a perfectionist with great ideals that can be attainable yet not. always reaching for that perfect visage, but capable of limiting himself from going too far ahead due to it being grounded by his pessimistic nature. but still, he was a seeker of the ideal, and would try his best to reach it or somewhere near it at least. heck, he's known to have tweaked the same song countless of times until he's satisfied that it was decent enough to put in public.
he's so very artistic, creativity abundant and imagination constantly running wild. he had a knack for subjects such as music, art, and literature. this creative mind of his grew stronger during his dark days as he tend to use it as a form of venting out his frustrations. sometimes he drew it out, other times he wrote it out, but the most effective measures were when he expressed it in music. he also tend to have these sort of visions of how he'd like his music videos to go, of the tales he wished to express through his lyrics, and was one to always make his lyrics to be able to be understood in so many ways as he enjoyed hearing the interpretations of other's of his creations. after all, people think differently and they would take his music differently, which he admired.
he's always got this air of serenity surrounding him. there's this certain calmness he exuded which soothe others and it's stronger when he sang. not only that, but he's a patient and tolerant fellow, which was greatly needed when one was a friend of haebin. he was experienced, and he knew how to remain calm during many situations, especially as of late. although, he's not completely stoic and it's easy to make him upset when you really target his insecurities. so, rather than being fully tranquil, it's more that he's got the aura of it.
a very soft person, with the lack of courage to cause much troubles, he tried his best to stay passive. he's meek initially, and he couldn't bring himself to show off the humorous or bright sides of him as he didn't really dare to. this also meant that he was a very reserved and the only times one could get a glimpse of the man behind haebin's memelord self was if he had haebin on his side. this was mainly because haebin's the one he's most comfortable with. because of how withdrawn he was, though, he came off as distant and that's one of the reasons he didn't have so much friends or the sort. this boy was the definition of humble too, never really one to praise his own works and never letting himself get too proud. he'd leave pride to haebin, thank you very much. however, his humble nature can also enter an insecure area and be very self-critical of himself, which just made him far more negative of himself. as admirable as how he was never satisfied with his work even as others tell him it was perfect, and the fact that he thought that there were others far better and that there were more levels to reach, it being muddled with insecurities and the sort made it diffucult for him to understand that he was already great enough.
moreover, he's very sensitive. he was understanding of others and always one to relate and sense other's feelings the most. it was useful when handling someone like haebin and making sure that he could raise their spirits the moment he realized they were feeling more downcast. however, this also made him more hurt from the negative comments in regards to him. as much as he would like criticism for his work, it hurts him a lot, far worse when it was very harsh. he tried not to let it get to him, but he's never really forged a great defense against horrible comments about him despite being bullied many years. in fact, he tends to rely on haebin to help keep his sensitivity in check just as he did with the other.
he's never really been good at being positive. he'd rather not actually. in a life where he experienced being an outcast, facing the struggles of having a different way of seeing the world than others, and more, he ended up thinking more about the worst possible outcomes of things. he liked to pair this up with his paranoia in a way that combined he would be more hyperaware of the world. he didn't let himself think of how good things could be for him because he was too wary of the other end of the spectrum. he wished to be careful and not messing up horribly. sometimes it pushed him further and raise his diligence, but other times it made him much too suspicious of others that weren't his parents or haebin. admittedly, a part of him always thinks that others talked behind his back and dislike him.
self-indulgent to a fault, he's never really cared to do much on things he could care less about. creativity was an area he stuck close with, and anything which helped let him express such a trait had always been something he was diligent on. but anything regarding data like maths or science would lead to him barely passing the subject, daydreaming in classes, and writing out his music secretly. it's honestly a miracle he's pushed himself so hard in dancing, but he never really tried going over the 'more than decent' boundary as it wasn't his forte for many reasons. one of it being that he was so, so very clumsy. being born blind in one eye really messed with his sense of balance and depth perception, so when he danced he had to force himself to lean more towards the left side and other members had to help him position himself more accurately. sure, he's got a better grasp on it but it's so easy to fail horribly in anything that regarded to shoot something to a target, sometimes he couldn't even pour the water in his cup properly, tightropes were practically impossible, and so on and so forth. really, he fumbled and faliled around and he's greatly embarrassed of himself every time.
the boy was born with a certain disability, that being that his left eye was totally blind. his parents had worried, after all, how would their son fare when he had such a problem? moreover, they couldn't fix it so he was forced to face this struggle since birth.
growing up, he struggled far more when it came to balance, depth perception, and so on and so forth. he was an extremely clumsy boy who was never sure of how the world truly looked like ( because his vision always seemed to stretch things out in order to compensate for the blindness in his other eye ). however, as he did grow up with it, he was far more observant than others of his age and tried to center the world better ( although, it's obvious he's leaning more to the right and that his balance was still off ).
but as he was a young boy, the children weren't so horrible. yes, they can be insensitive and it could be so mean, but he tried to not let it deter him so much. even if he was failing badly in tag or jenga or anything that needed balance and the use of both eyes, he still wanted to be good enough. however, his family had to leave to korea due to his father's job when he was so young and he found himself cramming the language into his head and having to handle a new environment. as if being odd for having one blind eye was bad enough, he now had to deal with being a foreigner.
his first day in school in korea had led to him being instantly insulted by someone, but also having made a friend that he wouldn't suspect to be the best of best friends he'd ever have in the future. more surprisingly, the friend and the boy who insulted him were one and the same. he couldn't help but thank the power of pikachu for letting him to make friends so easily.
he still faced the same struggles as before, albeit this time he had more bullies after him ( because now he sounded dumb with how he lacked in the language and wasn't korean too ). but this time he also had haebin, the boy he first befriended, who would stand up for him and be there for him with a wobbly smile as he tried to be his hero. he wouldn't expect to find someone to rely on in the lively boy, but he had and ever since then—life seemed to become easier and that he was capable of balancing on the tightrope of living.
he was also in love with music from a young age. in all honesty, he was interested by the songs he would hear from haebin at times, and when his mother's friend ( who was a pianist ) showed him the beauty of piano, he couldn't help but wish to learn the instrument. it was a struggle, as he couldn't see the left side of the piano that well and sometimes he pressed the wrong key from what he originally wished for. but as he grew and stubbornly continued to play the instrument, he found himself finding it easier to just close his eyes and remember where each of the keys was situated in and soon the piano became something he was talented in.
chapter ii.
as he grew older, and mindsets began to change, he found himself being isolated even more due to his disability. elementary school was bearable to handle, but middle school had been vicious. a freak, cyclops, weirdo, and even more unflattering nicknames showered him. being an oddity in comparison to the others made others avoid him, and everyone followed the mindset of the majority—except for haebin. again, haebin was his pillar of support in such dreadful times and he would find himself depending on the other.
but haebin, as strong as he might be, had weaknesses too. and he's always so guilty when he noticed the hurt expressions on haebin's face when the bullying would extend to him. when haebin's self-confidence dropped, he couldn't help but be unsure of what to do at first for he was so, so guilty for having dragged haebin into this situation. still, he tried his best to help haebin. after all, friendship was a two-way road and he couldn't always rely on the other and not give anything in return.
that was why he made it a ritual to compliment the other as much as he could whenever possible. just raising his spirits and letting the other focus on other things than the gossiping and vile whispers of others. he brought him to different worlds that made him happy like memes and vocaloid and it became their thing. as much as haebin could be annoying now with memes, he never regretted showing it to haebin as it made the boy so, so bright.
speaking of vocaloid, he actually came across it during his early middle school years. there were a lot of deep and meaningful songs that he ended up relating to and he aspired to be like the many producers he had found who would make music that reach out to others and connect with them. maybe he did exaggerate the negative emotions, maybe he did not, but he found himself producing music as a form of venting feelings and that also made him more at ease during middle school. plus, his talent in piano had helped a lot. moreover, he had actually begun to sing and play the guitar alongside it. he focused more on the latter, though, as he enjoyed to sing vocaloid songs out loud with haebin on particularly stressful days.
chapter iii.
highschool came in and as people matured more ( even if it wasn't a lot, it was still progress ), he was bullied less. moreover, he found himself gaining the confidence to put out covers of his own singing when he felt proud enough of it. sometimes he even dragged haebin into it ( at times it was japanese, other times he made a korean version of it for haebin's sake ). moreover, the nice comments about his music that he found had always brighten his days and he definitely enjoyed to show haebin the praises regarding haebin's rap.
graduating was a struggle, mainly because he never was fond of data and studying anything that didn't pique his interest ( basically, anything that didn't allow fiction had instantly been something he didn't really bother with, much to his parent's chagrin ). he had actually wished to seek for what university to apply for and get into a music major of sort, but haebin had instantly dragged him away and demanded that they should debut as an idol.
as much as he cared for haebin, he really didn't think that's be a great idea. after all, how was he supposed to dance?? he would flail around like a fish out of water for pete's sake! however, he also knew that it was impossible to change haebin's mind and knew that he had to practice dance ever since then. he was never fond of dancing, and he lacked the grace or balance for it.
that wasn't the biggest problem, though. he and haebin applied for many, many companies, and every single time they would accept haebin and reject him due to his one-eyed blindness.
how could he dance if he couldn't see on his right? would people even like his single blind eye? he's a risk, it's best to not take him. tend to be what the usual excuses were, and it always felt as if he was being stabbed deeply with every rejection. he hated it, and frankly, he didn't want to continue this. it's tiring, and he was only dragging haebin down with him once again.
but haebin was so bright, and with a burning passion as intense as the sun, he would declare that he wouldn't enter a company without him. in all honesty, he had wanted to call haebin selfish because this wasn't relaly the route he had wanted to go down to. but at the same time, he's touched by the other's warmth and knew that they had always gone through things together. and so he soldiered on, ever so selfless when it came to haebin and unable to refute him.
it took more tries, but finally, after all the tribulations, they found a company that was willing to take them in. blockberry creative saw talent in them both, and the company decided to take the risk. and he was sure that him and haebin bawling their eyes out wasn't such a pretty sight, but he couldn't help but feel like he just won the olympics when they were accepted. and he vowed to not disappoint everyone that took him in.

his blind side ( he especially hated it when someone creep up to him on his blind side because it always gave him a heart attack and his cautiousness would probably lead to a dramatic reaction of sorts because having something come up from an area you're aware that you weren't able to see was terrifying ); anything too sweet ( he's picky about sweet food because it's not really what he's fond of and he just dislike the taste, especially if it's not coupled with other flavors. however, he enjoyed nutty sweets a lot ); deadlines ( they're his number one enemy. he liked the freedom of doing his work as long as possible because that meant he could perfect it to his satisfaction, and he didn't like to rush it or else he wouldn't be proud of his work ); sports ( really, he didn't enjoy embarrassing himself. and frankly, he did not want to constantly bump into everyone because what is balance and what's going on in his blind side??? ); coffee ( he actually didn't like the drink and was more fond of teas than coffee )

he liked to learn how to dance by learnign choreo from other groups. as girl groups had easier dances than boys, he trained his dancing by learning girl group dances and now new way too much of it by heart. heck, do a random play dance session with girl group songs instead and he'd nail that better than the solaire one.

speaking of random play dance, it's just the segment wherein people get to see him flail and fumble around in confusion. especially when he had to change positions, that was just asking for him to bang into someone else.
CHOREO HANDICAP
sometimes the choreographer had to try their best to make it easy for him to do the choreography without worrying that he'd bump into someone else. earlier on, they'd position him mainly on the left end so he could still see the others on his right. however, as eh got used to group choreography, he found it easier to shift positions ( still horrid at random play dance, though ).
CLOSET MEMER
he's a memelord himself, capable of even utilizing the meme language due to his vast knowledge of it. he was the one who introduced haebin into meme hell and honestly, if he wasn't so reserved, solaire would have to deal with way too many memes. thankfully, he kept them more for haebin and less serious situations.

once he becomes at ease with the members, he's going to bring out the boy's love fanservice by being affectionate with the others and just fueling the shippers. of course, most of the time he does it with haebin.
ABOUT DRIVING
no. never. he's not going to drive. yes, one-eyed people are allowed to drive as long as their good eye has great vision. but still, he's too paranoid and he couldn't believe in himself to drive. what if he accidentally hit something due to his horrid depth perception and the sort??? he was not taking that risk.

unsurprisingly, he majored in composition. more unsrurprisingly would be him having become a composer if he wasn't an idol.

one of his most successful songs, this was made during his audition days. it was during his lowest moments and he had been very depressed during that time, however, thanks to haebin he pulled through and soldiered on. this experience inspired him to create that song and ever since then it stuck.

he made his music videos during his vocaloid producer days. it wasn't so flashy and didn't include amazing animated drawings, but it was how he liked to envision it.
JAPAN
he wasn't so fond of going back to japan because the people still isolated him like in korea, but this time he had no haebin. which just made him more miserable.
his father was a kind and diligent man, he admired his hard-working nature. the man had always been worried about him, though. the man would end up scaring him a lot without meaning to due to how paranoid his father can be. "what if you hit the pole!? or get hit by a car!?" and so you can thank this man as to why he was so careful all the time.

his mother was a sweetheart that he loved greatly. she was kind and had enjoyed talking about fantasies together with him. however, he's not as superstitious or as openly eccentric as her. he always found himself amused by her antics and thankful of her support for him.
haebin and he go way back, they've been fixed figures in each other's life and really, he's not even sure what life without haebin would be like. they were like opposites in many ways, but they worked together well and he's used to many questioning how he managed to handle haebin with how reserved and negative he was. no one really knew that he and haebin went through a lot together, and throught htose tough times they had supported each other greatly.
they knew each other so well that they were practically able to read each other's minds. the whisper challenge, telepathy game, charades and the sort were just them taking one look at each other and knowing exactly what the other was thinking. heck, they had their own da vinci code in the form of memes and emojis. moreover, he's really most omfortable with haebin and would show brighter and more relaxed sides around the other.
he honestly love and tried his best to make haebin happy. after all, haebin had always supported him during rough times.
if you ask him, he'd say yunseong was a nice guy. if you can read his mind, he wondered whether the gods somehow got lazy with making him, haebin and yunseong and that's why there was a scary mix of similar personalities. either way, he was alright with yunseong and respected the other for his confidence and meme skills.

celeste was a word connected to stars, heaven, and sky. solaire referred to the sun. if one was to consider celeste as a star, he's not necessarily solaire, however, he's a star that was connected to the sun. as sun and stars were one in the same, one could say that in a more poetic way that he was a mere star on his own but along with solaire, he could be as bright as the sun.

midnight was on the other end of the spectrum of words that related to the sun. dark, colder, and representing negativity better, it rather suit him. however, midnight and day were in the same cycle, they were connected and in a way, he's willing to do so much for solaire that he'd sacrifice half of his time to let the sun ( solaire, the other members ) to shine instead.

trainee life ( 2017 - 2019; BBC )
the moment he became a trainee, he had vowed to not disappoint people. even if he wasn't fond of dancing, he had to train in order for him to be able to become an idol. yes, he needed help in positioning himself and always counting, remembering, and having to take extra steps so his dancing didn't look horrible. he's not amazing, but he tried his best.
the other trainees found him to be quite the oddity, after all, it's not everyday that there was a trainee who wanted to be an idol that was blind in one eye. he understood that it was difficult for him, and he's not the best in socializing with others too. but the trainees weren't so horrible like his classmates in school, so he's managed fine. but it was obvious that he's most comfortable with haebin and even if he's not training he'd rather go to do his music.
as he's busier due to this trainee life, he found himself with less time on composing. the youtube channel where he had posted all his music on had less and less videos posted, causing a few worries until he clear it up shortly and explained that he was 'currently busy in life' but never specifying that he's a trainee now. still, he tried to produce whenever he could. however he's not really pumping out so much music videos.

produced by himself and in japanese. this song revolved around the relationship between him and that person ( or he found another to love again ) and turns out it wasn't so pure. it was actually quite toxic. the mv showcases how he was an anomaly in the kingdom ( relating to being an outcast due to his blind eye ) and that he was constantly hurt by the people around him until he met someone ( the person in his dreams ) who would protect him by taking in all the hurtful words instead ( him venting to them and sometimes his emotional reactions weren't the kindest but his love still let him do it all ). he wished for them to be real as they didn't exist in his reality but as time passed on he realized that he was hurting them and knew it had to stop. so he lets them go, to be free. but the pain of reality was still strong and he ended up returning to the dreams and waited for the day he meets with his love once again ( leading to his first song ).

produced by himself and in japanese. this song was about how he would constantly change himself for the person he loved, changing himself again and again by trying to be someone who matched and was at the same level as the other. even when the other would reassure him, he's constantly negative about himself and believed that he's still no good and always worried that he'd be left by them because of that. eventually, he was left behind ( as seen as in his first song ) and when he was, he realized that all this time it was because he kept on changing himself. eventually, he gave up on changing and became himself instead. this is also a prequel to his first song.

when the newest music video of another solaire member came out, people were shocked to see that this boy had an obvious blind eye. at first, they thought it was just contact lenses or the sort, but people who had the same condition could attest to the fact that he indeed was blind in one eye by pointing out how he leaned more to the right in the mv and that there were signs where he showed a lack of depth perception.

after his second song was revealed, certain people claimed he plagiarised a japanese producer going by hitotsumeno-p. however, smarter and people that were obviously not anti-fans, have discovered that his voice was the same as hitotsumeno-p's and moreover, not too long after this accusation, a video where the idol was shown talking about how he was hitotsumeno-p but never told anyone was posted on said producer's account.
