Gaming and Aggression

Does playing violent video games cause aggression in people?

Make them susceptible to violence?

Can assuming the identity of a violent fictional avatar cause people to think violence is okay in real life?

What if people spend a lot of time playing such games?

How does aggressive gameplay (age rated games) affect children?

Are you an avid gamer or not?

What are your thoughts? :)

I actually grew up playing Mortal Kombat games, one of the most violent games out there, and I'm not a violent person, neither has my behaviour ever been influenced by it.
The most common sort of aggression that's happening these days with gaming is mostly in PvP games, going to use Overwatch as an example. My brother's into it and competitive makes some real triggered monsters out there. He too often gets just real frustrated when he plays it, so he's quit for now.
But yeah, personally I play quite a few single player games that feature violence, but thus far, I've been unaffected in terms of real life aggression.

I’m a quite avid gamer and played a lot of violent games when i was young. For me, playing violent games didn’t affect me as a child. In fact, it helped me calm down because i “loaded” my bad feelings into the game. I played a lot of violent games and i never think that violence is okay, i also watched a lot of school-life dramas where they throw punches easily and still don’t think violence is okay. But of course it’s just me and I think it affects differently for each people. And as long as the one who play know that it’s just a game, and it shouldn’t be connected to real life, it’s fine.

I don't play games, but when I tried Mario when I was younger, it made me so angry, I quit. Mario, exactly, how come a minor game like that do this? Every time I fell and die, it got me angry. And I'm not like that at all so I quit.
Every person responses differently.

I'm an avid gamer and I can tell you that NO!!! Violent games do not make violent people, nor aggression. It only offers you a way to take out your aggression after a full day of bull and people that you kind have wanting to strangle for a little while... wait... that does sound aggressive. Oops.
