INTRODUCTIONS

NAME oh Jinsoo [ last, first ]
other names
SUNGLASSES BOY — Due to the fact he's always got this large, round sunglasses on him. these sunglasses were actually a  gift from his grandmother that was actually sunglasses that his grandfather used to have. he also considered it his lucky charm.
bubblegum BOY — much like his other nickname, this was one given to him mainly because he's often seen blowing bubblegum. no deep meaning behind this, he just loves gum.
dreamer / blur / dumb / snail / etc. — more of an insult targetting his initial impression that made him seem lethargic and slow. crueler people would try and insult him by saying he's probably autistic [ he's madder they'd use autism as a form of an insult really ].

birthday + age 01/01 + 1999

face claim laun [ kim minseok ] of onf
backup face claim chan [ kang yuchan ] of A.C.E

appearance
standing at 5'8" [ 178 cm ], the young man was on the handsome side and brought out more innocent and whimsical charms due to his personality. most times you'd get to see his eyes stare at something, dazed and it's as if he was sleeping with his eyes open. more often than not there's a small smile donning his face and his eyes shone brightly as he fantasizes but becomes dull as he entered the boring reality. the most enthusiastic he'd be would be when talking about anything that interested him—a wide smile takes place, eyes wide and so alive. he's practically vibrating on the spot and he would gush non-stop, motions and gestures becoming more dramatic.

fashion
rather old-fashioned in his style, he's a bit of a fan of the retro and 80s vibe. one of his rituals was to always wear a bright color corresponding to the color he associated with the day [ red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday respectively ]. and as it was fall, his current fashion was mainly a rather baggy shirt, tucked into his pants that were put up to his waist, a long coat over his shoulders, and sneakers.

WHO ARE YOU, JINSOO?

personality
▸ POSITIVE  — imaginative; fair; enthusiastic; honest
▸ neutral  — curious; whimsical
▸ negative — withdrawn; insensitive; dazed; escapist
he's got his head in the clouds, dreaming of a world only he knew of. he loved to think of scenarios and to just indulge in fantasy, melding it with reality like an expert blacksmith. the world was too dull to him and so he painted it with bright colors that only he could see lest he's willing to share his vision with others. even with the dreams plaguing his mind, he was not swayed much by emotions or personal connections. he remained objective, understanding the pros and cons of things, and weighing out on a mental scale. he made sure to have all sides to a tale before he gave out his judgment.

despite being thought to be lethargic due to how blurry he could be, he had moments where he gets greatly enthusiastic about a topic. when motivated and doing something he loved, he became energetic and ready to tackle on whatever was in the way. but as soon as he's bored, he shuts down and became uncaring of it all. he'll be honest about it too, unafraid to reveal his opinions and avoid sugarcoating as he simply found it too troublesome. however, that did not mean he's not willing to hide certain facts about himself. still, answers you get from him were bound to be truthful.

his curiosity tends to be a major factor in whether he'll get invested in anything. for example, he's so curious about the enigmatic house that he's willing to defy his family to investigate it. if he wasn't so curious about the subject, though, he would just not be motivated to do anything about it. this curiosity of his could end up leading him to make rash decisions. he also gave off whimsical vibes, and even if it wasn't so glaring he just gave off that feeling. it showed greatly when he's with his grandmother or just people he was close to. with them, he didn't really mind being open about his wild imagination and even tell them of some of his rituals.

he was quite the reserved individual. usually not interacting much with others and more focused on his own created fiction. he didn't really communicate with the rest of his peers as a part of him felt that they were too dull. well, they weren't as exciting as his dreams that's for sure. plus, with how some people tend to pick on him or ignore him, he decided it wasn't really worth the trouble to forge relationships. this lack of socializing also caused him to be insensitive as he wasn't really used to it. due to his trait of honesty too, he didn't really hold back his words. this led to him being insensitive and bringing out the harsh truths.

his constant daydreaming caused him to be dazed and unaware of the world around him. there were often times where he ended up actually sleeping in class, hit walls, fell into a ditch and more because of how unfocused he was. perhaps he should focus more on reality, but by now escapism was like second nature to him.he was used to ignoring his problems by dreaming of the good and fun things. he compensated not being so original and eccentric in real life by transferring it all into his dreams and sometimes even to doodles or writings on a notebook.

things to note
ever since he had access to the internet, he was fond of watching anime [ in all honesty, he loved shoujo and the whimsical kind of anime most and ghibli movies are his absolute favorites ], searching about unsolved mysteries [ he actually has boards and notes about these cases, having his own research on jack the ripper and theories of it ], watching tons of theorist videos [ he may not be so logical or caring for it, but if it revolves around something interesting he would be very attentive to it ], and searching up about the world out of oceanview [ he's already set up a whole plan of what he'd do when he get out of the town ].
loves to do photography, but he also liked to make the images he took look more like fairy tales.
he has a collection of seashells when he and his grandmother decided to have fun on the beach.
there were two shelves in his room, one were books that he liked, the other was books on his stories or anything else he wrote about. there was actually a series of books regarding the mysterious house.
as much as he's a lover of fantasy, he didn't reject logic. actually, he's sometimes interested in subjects like science and maths as long as it's related to something which interests him. heck, he's an avid fan of game theorists. as long as he's motivated he's willing to do so much.
his favorite game is deemo and he also loves the music in the game, he even got a playlist of it on his phone.
will nickname people because 'real names are boring'.
got his phone thanks to his mother who tends to buy useful items from the city and teaching them how to use it when she drops by.

▸  why so dull? that just makes it hard to talk to you now. ❞
▸  it's my good luck charm! and well, my good luck ritual too. if i don't do it i'll be unlucky the whole week. ❞
▸  don't worry, i'll make you more interesting 'cuz now you're named fennec! 'cuz you got big ears like fennec foxes and eyes like foxes too. ❞
▸ hmm...? sorry....didn't quite catch that...
▸  if it wasn't for grandma and the mystery house, i just want to sleep forever and live in my dreams. ❞

history
CHAPTER I.
The boy is used to the sea breeze, the scent of the beach, and sand under his wriggling toes. he lived with his grandmother, the kind lady with hints of whimsical sparks still shining in her eyes. his mother was a woman who left oceanview to go to bigger cities to become a more renowned doctor whilst his father stayed but didn't rest in home much due to his job as a fisherman. his grandmother became the one taking care of him, as she was now a lone woman who had lost her husband years ago.

his grandmother would always bring him on a journey to the beach whilst locking their hands together, the wrinkles of her skin being such a large contrast to his soft ones. there, they would look at the horizon and admire the blue sea, and she would tell tales of her days or dreams. her stories always interested him, and he would always listen so attentively. at nights, they watch the stars, draw pictures with the dots and they would name the stars.

and how about we name that kkum?
❝ We can't name that one, it already has one. ❞
❝  Huh? what's its name? ❞
sooro, your grandfather. ❞

CHAPTER iI.
hushed whispers and rumors of the mysterious house were a normalcy in oceanview. he's heard many times from his grandmother and her friends of how off the house was. a few times he had to pass by the house, much to his grandmother's chagrin, and yet he was more intrigued by it despite the unsettling feelings gained from just by being in its presence.

it was here that the seeds of curiosity began to grow. sometimes, in secret, he liked to spy the house from afar and just wondered what hid inside. he loved to listen to the rumors and just form his own theories [ although, the adults never let him join in with them to talk about it, so he just wrote his research in notebooks and kept it to himself ]. perhaps he dreamed too much of the house, of what could be in it, and the millions of possibilities of its existence.

there had been a fascination he could not shake off, and even though it wasn't such a healthy one—he kept on thinking about it. and with this interest, he found himself writing more about the 'what if's that were ready to spill out of his mind. he occupied himself with wonders, and now alongside his hobby of naming stars, he's creating theories of the simplest of things. sometimes he laced it with actual facts and knowledge, but other times he was just going by the vast possibilities provided by his imagination.

do you think that they're actually vampires? ❞
no, i don't think so. ❞
you're right, vampires don't go out when the sun rises, how could i be so dumb!
maybe they're the Addams family—wait do you even know that show? ❞

CHAPTER iiI.
undeniably, he grew up to be a dreamer. he lets his mind wander and to think freely and without restraints. he would conjure up rituals of his own sorts for the fun of it, small challenges to spice up his dull days. in the town where normalcy was one's way of survival, he couldn't help but rely on fantasies to add hues to the monochromatic life.

it's boring, oceanview that was. the only thing worth noting would be the mysterious abode. other than that there wasn't much. he'd rather sleep, the dreams seemed much more enticing than the dullness of reality. but he had his grandmother there, and he couldn't let her suffer in the boring world alone. so he lets himself wake up and imagine alongside his grandmother.

at one point, he and his grandmother took in an injured bird and healed it up. probably one of the most exciting moments in his life, sadly enough. but that was also probably because he imagined the small bird as if it was some sort of fallen angel transformed into a bird. there was just something exciting about life when he imagined it in a different way and think of himself as some sort of protagonist. it's mostly kept to himself and his grandmother, though, mainly because he just never really thought it was needed to show it off to others. yes, he's a bit dazed and some elders thought he was slow and dumb, but he tried not to let it get to him.

the lethargic impression did make others think he wasn't all that smart, though, and because of that, he was teased by other children. the more they did, though, the more he found himself succumbing into more dreams. he did pay some attention to class to be able to pass and have great grades when it came to language and literature. yet, they still think he was quite vacant in his head and not all that smart.

however, he did feel bad whenever his grandmother and parents were insulted in his stead for being the ones that took care of him. after all, he was the one constantly daydreaming. although, his grandmother would wave it off easily. for they need not the public's acceptance as long as they had each other [ but he knew she's quite the hypocrite as she held prejudices in some aspects as long as it didn't involve him ].

is it wrong to always dream? ❞
no, it's not. in fact, it's nice to dream. ❞
even when they say otherwise? ❞
don't care about them. after all, you still have us.

CHAPTER iv.
sometimes he wondered if he belonged in Oceanview. he didn't fit in their brand of normalcy, and he was very sure that if he didn't have his grandmother and father in Oceanview, he'd leave. actually, he wouldn't be so set on staying in Oceanview if it wasn't for the mysterious house too.

anyways, he didn't think he really suited in Oceanview. now not only because of his whimsical nature but also the fact that, well, he liked boys as much as he loved girls. it was quite strange really, for the discovery of his uality began when he started wondering how it would be like to kiss boys. then it led him to just going to the internet and realizing he's admiring a lot of male stars alongside females. he's aware of how this newfound discovery would just ignite more scorn from the conservative town, and in all honesty—he didn't want to trouble his family anymore.

more truthfully, he's starting to be swayed by the citizen's opinions. was he truly strange? was he not supposed to be like this at all? it scared him a bit really, and escapism had seemed like the best way to ignore until nightmares marred his dreams. now without anywhere to go, he grew restless and unsure of himself. of course, his grandmother noticed his worsening condition and confronted him about it. he actually didn't want to tell her about it, because the growing insecurities had pointed out how she could even betray him. but his grandmother always had some sort of magic on him, and that's why he spilled out his secret like a dam that got broken.

a part of him is ashamed, another was relieved. in the end, he's anxious as he got a silent pause from her, noticing that she was stunned in disbelief. it took a few more moments, but she would tell him honestly that she found it unnatural. he had never felt so heartbroken like in that moment, but her next words had also led him to break down in, not sadness, but joy. for she had told him that even if that was her opinion, she was willing to understand for him.

and just like that, the nightmares faded away.

Thank you. thank you so much.
i couldn't hate you for something like that.
but—
you're my most precious star, forever and always.

CHAPTER v.
life moved on as usual. he had eventually told his parents with his grandmother's support. his mother was more accepting, and it took some time for his father to talk to and accept him, but all in all, they weren't all that negative of him. in fact, his mother decided to give him a new phone just so she could show him people that were like him. that there were those like him, that it was fine to be like him, and that she's going to be happy for him no matter what.

but after that rollercoaster ride, it was like he's thrown back into a state of tranquility. at first, it was nice, but he quickly grew bored again. maybe he was a bit too arrogant from overcoming a single struggle, but he truly wanted to investigate the mysterious house. he at least had this goal of wanting to unravel the enigma that was that house before he decided to leave Oceanview [ he had limits, and he wanted to view the world outside of this mundane town ].

he knew that his family didn't really approve of the idea of him trying to find out something about the peculiar house, but he just couldn't help it. years of blooming curiosity had led to the need of solving it out for himself if he could. unfortunately, his grandmother easily found out he was plotting something and she was actually more upset with his urge to decipher the puzzling house than when she found out about his uality.

she was wholeheartedly against this, but he was stubborn and this was probably the first time they ever came close to arguing. eventually, miraculously really, he won purely because they both know he was ready to defy her if he had to. and frankly, she'd rather know when he was going to do such things if only so she could ready herself for that day.

i don't think i would even rest in peace if i don't find out what's wrong with that place. ❞
I'm telling you, nothing good will come out of this. ❞
perhaps, but i won't be satisfied if i never try. ❞
fine, but i expect you better be prepared and know when to stop. i just really don't feel good about this.

lifestyle
His house is located nearby the sea, quaint and serene. he lived with his grandmother, with his father often coming by when he's not out taking and selling fishes. rarer moments would be when his mother returned from the city and bring back items for them.

his routine was that of waking up early enough to be able to get to school or as late as he could on holidays. mainly so he could have a long time dreaming. he was also one of those people who would write his dreams as he woke up. afterward, he just loves to spend as much time as he could with his grandmother. he also incorporated certain rituals such as how before he slept he had to ingrain the numbers of the time he wished to wake up by shutting his eyes and moving his eyes to the form of the numbers. or like how he must go to look at the stars every weekend night or bad luck will befall him for the entire week. there were many other rituals, but those were the ones he always did.

in school, he liked to spend his time daydreaming as much as possible. out of his amusement, he liked to take the corner, back seat which faced the windows, he just wanted to feel how it was like to be an anime protagonist. when he felt it was safe enough, he would doodle or write down short stories in his notebook. he excelled when it came to literature and language mainly because he loved stories and learning the various languages that existed [ after all, it's a dream of his to go out and travel and see the world ].

IT'S TIME TO INVESTIGATE

WHY DO YOU WANT TO GO?
it's the only interesting here...i mean— ❞ he gestured to their surroundings, mundane to its very core ❝ look at this place, it's so boring. i don't understand how everyone could live in here. sure the house seems creepy but it's more exciting than to just...well do what most people here do. ❞

he huffed lightly, uncommon passion and enthusiasm seeping into his veins as his eyes took a determined gleam. ❝ plus, i vowed that before i go off to travel around the world, i want to figure out what's going on there! ❞

what do YOU think is happening?
this honestly sort of reminds me of 'hello neighbor'. do you think they're cultists trying to summon the devil? or perhaps they're vampires or ghouls! or maybe they're a group of criminals hiding dark secrets in their basement? tortured souls, kidnapped victims, corpses of any kind perhaps? oh, i think that they may actually be plotting something so that they can ruin the town! but why the old mayor's house? hey, do you think it's possible that the old mayor did something really bad. like, they actually did human experimentation or something and the new residents of the house were involved in it and trying to continue where he left off— ❞ and his rambling continued on, putting out more ideas and piling them up to be able to reach the skies.

who is the young man that comes from the house?
a part of me is saying that he's not the true mastermind of this whole case. i mean, i have theories of that too but he seemed more like a follower of the bigger scheme? maybe he was the one we usually see because he was trying to spot for potential sacrifices? or even just being there as a security and maybe sending codes back to the base to show whether it's safe to continue their activities? or perhaps— ❞ again, he's going on and on, words spewing out without any sign of stopping. he's also practically vibrating in excitement, hands clenched and shaking up and down as his eyes grow wide and bright.

what would YOUr parents say about YOU investigating the house?
well...grandma is fine with it after a series of negotiation...perhaps dad and mom wouldn't be that easy to convince... ❞ he rubbed the back of his head a bit sheepishly, shoulders sagging, and a soft sigh escaping his lips. ❝ but even if they'll try to stop me....i'll defy them because i have to solve this mystery! ❞

in all honesty, his mother would let him go. she thought that the citizens of Oceanview were being overdramatic and that having some kids investigate the place wouldn't be so bad. his father's more reluctant, but having loved a logical woman—he could understand her views and see it as a way of fun bonding for him. after all, he's rather worried by the lack of friends on his son's end. so maybe this would be a good experience.

BLOODLINES AND LIFELINES

RELATIONS
▸ oh Junho, father, 47;
optimistic, rather conservative but learning to be more open-minded, active, selfless, slow;

he spent with his father a lot more than his mother as he had more free time depending on the weather or season. his father liked to try and get him to be more athletic but he was always more interested on whether he had any interesting stories during the time the man was fishing. their relationship strained a bit when he revealed that he was biual, but his father tried to get over the traditionalist mindset for his son and is trying to learn to accept it.

▸ oh Bomi, mother, 45;
logical, assertive, level-headed, insensitive, actually open-minded;

she was the one he least interacted with among his family, but she was also the one he could talk most logically with. when he was more interested in the complicated theories revolving around maths and sciences, he likes to inquire her about it. she was the one who accepted him most easily and that led him to feel more close to her. despite her sparse moments with him, she made those times count.

▸ oh Soojin, grandmother, 68;
imaginative, felicific, conservative but learning to be more open-minded, blunt, humorous;

he's closest to her than with others. she had been the one who brought him to the lands and beauty of dreams. if it hadn't been for her, he wouldn't be the dreamer he was today. he cherished her a lot and was willing to actually follow her orders most times. plus, he would actually motivate himself to do tasks such as chores if it was for her. overall, she was his most loved one and he's not sure how life would be without her.

▸ Oceanview citizens;
truthfully he didn't think highly of them, and he's well aware that they didn't think highly of him either. which was why he didn't mind ignoring them whenever they were too boring for his tastes. he was quite the outcast due to his rather quirky nature but he was willing to be himself as long as he had people who cared and his fantasies. although, he's still young and sometimes the citizens did manage to get to him. one example would be the time he realized he was biual and how he was wary of revealing that fact to anyone due to the prejudiced town. most itmes, though, he would just let them be.

ENDING NOTE

comments
hope you like this kid akjsdhasjd—no lie, i have like...3 other bios prior to this that i scrapped out since i wasn't all that satisfied with it. like i was thinking of just someone who was bi but dealt with very traditionalist family, then it became him as a conservative boy that was trying to accept himself for being bi and liking dark topics, to a more open and intense theorist that would drown in logic, and somehow i ended up with a whimsical boy xd. i honestly don't know anymore really. a part of me still isn't satisfied but that's how i always am. also, i would love to html and make this pretty but i've written too much and can't bring the motivation to actually do so sahdksd.

suggestions
i'm horrible at suggestions and plus i'm pretty sure you have a grasp on how you want this story to flow so yeah :"D

movie score
AWWYPS:
nujabes
 — just their songs, in general, were ones I thought that suit the aesthetic of oceanview?? like I see it as a chill place if you focus more on the geography and appearance? not sure how to say it xd
reaper man by Mother mother — more of an exaggerated take on how the elder probably sees them. aka my excuse to put in Mother Mother here

Jinsoo:
no one to nothing by Mother Mother — more like some of his thoughts about how he sees humanity at times. Also, I see him as a fan of the band.
my time by bo en — relating to his escapism.
Paper doll by Kikuo — also regarding his escapism.
to asteroid b-612 by Sasakure.uk — it's just so whimsical to me and gives off the jinsoo vibes, plus he didn't care much about honest facts as long as it's exciting.
rock shooter's repatriation by Kyouinu — this is so jinsoo. like, this is how he would see life as to spice it up.
dream by rabpit — i also found this so whimsical and suiting him and really i just went down the classical road here.
