Positive: When you first take a look at Nakyung, she would appear reserved, and that because she is. She doesn't like talking unless she has to, otherwise she would just be reserved, in her own little world. With that being said, Nakyung is very reliable and friendly. You may think she is very cold, and doesn't care about anyone, but she actually has a big heart. Whenever someone is down, she would try to cheer them up and talk to them. Nakyung is very studious, she loves books and art, always having a book near her. When it comes down to making decisions, Nakyung is rational about her decisions, thinking about the pros and cons about the situation. And lastly, Nakyung is tremendously diligent. She has an huge urge of not giving up, no matter what it takes.

Negative: Nakyung is restless, especially when she's stressed. She can't be still, she has to do something when she feels like she's under pressure. With that, she gets obnoxious with her habits and just annoys everyone around her without any knowledge of it. Nakyung can also get very stubborn at times, especially when she's sad, tired, or stressed. At these times, Nakyung prefers to be alone and thinks she can deal with it herself but in reality, she can't. Because of this, Nakyung can be extremely insecure and doubtful about herself. Besides from that, Nakyung can be sarcastic, or so she thinks. She is not very good with humor, and when she is being "sarcastic", a lot of people takes it the wrong way and thinks she is bringing them down, resulting in them sometimes loathing Nakyung.

Byun Nakyung was born on March 18th, 1997 in Suwon, South Korea. Unfortunately, her mother passed away from giving birth to Nakyung, but Nakyung was surprisingly healthy after being born. She has guilt on her shoulders ever since she found out about her mother when she was 3-ish, and doesn't think she can forgive herself for it even though it wasn't necessarily her fault. Apart from the stuff from her mom, Nakyung's life was not that bad. Her dad had raised her in Suwon, and it's been them two up until Nakyung was 7 years old. This was because her dad found someone, Lee Insook. At first, Nakyung didn't like Insook for a handful of reasons, but as time went one, Nakyung warmed up to Insook. Nakyung's father and Inksook got married when Nakyung was 9, and had a daughter, Byun Chaebin shortly after the wedding.
Anyways, Nakyung grew up like any other kid, even with her parental situation. With it being only her and her father for the first 7 years of her life, she was raised kind of being spoiled, despite growing up in middle class. Or at least that's what her dad wanted to do, give her the stars and the moon, but Nakyung didn't want to be spoiled, she didn't want to waste her father's money. With school life, she'd place in the top 10 in her classes, and went to all girls school in elementary and middle school. Nakyung was in the art club, and spend most of her free time drawing. Her dream was to become an artist, and have a cute little art studio in Seoul and a museum next door filled with her paintings. But as a famous saying goes, “Things aren't always what they seem.”
Along with her love of art, Nakyung also had a sweet spot for music. She would blare SNSD and U-Kiss' music throughout her house, and would have little dance parties with her friends. Nakyung's friends were those typical K-POP fans, wanting to skip school because a group dropped a MV and dreaming to become an idol to get close with their favorites. Nakyung, on the other hand, while she liked K-POP, she was alot of a calmer fan of group, not even necessarily a fan, just enjoying the music. So how did she end up in Starship Entertainment? Well, at first, she didn't have a desire to become an idol, becoming an artist was her number one priority. She would enter her art in competitions, but it wasn't the finalist. And while, she didn't want to give up, she knew that her dream of having an art studio and being featured in museums was not going to happen.
One day after school, Nakyung and her friends was having one of those little dance parties. SNSD's Run Devil Run came on, and the friend group was having the time of their 13 year old lives. As Taeyeon's high note part came on, Nakyung started singing along with her. Although Nakyung's voice wasn't the best in the world, it was good enough for her friend to approve and telling her to become an idol. Nakyung said no, still in her art fantasy stage. Back to Nakyung's mid-life high school crisis, being an idol was being one of the opinions, so she tried auditioning at Pledis Entertainment in 2013, and didn't get in. She tried again in 2014, and got in. From there on out, she traineed hard, mainly focusing on vocals.
Then in 2015, Pledis gave her a chance to do an OST for the drama "The Time We Were Not in Love", and she took it, singing a song called "Why am I like this?". Though the drama wasn't as popular as other dramas, she was happy to get a chance to do it. Because of the OST, she was known to the Pledis fans as a trainee, and there were even talks of Nakyung being in Pledis Girlz. Pledis denied that claim, saying she didn't have any plans of debuting with them. Then later in 2015, Nakyung left Pledis due to knowing the fact that she wasn't going to debut, and joined Starship in the early 2016.
Her father and step-mother was surprisingly supportive of Nakyung being a trainee, and let her move to Seoul, with the exception of them popping in every couple months to see how she's doing. So, Nakyung moved to Seoul at the age of 17, after high school, not knowing what her next adventure is but excited to see whats next in her new chapter.

trainee life — Nakyung started to to train at the age of 17. She trained hard to fulfill her dream. At Pledis, Nakyung was very insincere because she was a new trainee and it was her first trainee experience. Nakyung wasn't sure if she would be a trainee if that wasn't really getting anywhere in terms of an income, and had thoughts of quitting almost everyday. She had many potential points of debuting, but they were all turned down, and sometimes she is passive aggressive about it. She took about 3 months off before joining Starship. During that three-month period, Nakyung was thinking whether or not to still training. Fortunately, she decided to keep running to her dream and not give up. But since Staship is a huge company, she felt that the competition was much more harder, resulting in her being once again in the mindset she had at Pledis At one point in her trainee days, her parents made the entertainment companies debut her soon or they would take her out and follow her dad's career as a engineer. Her parents made her work so hard that she couldn't even see her parents. Eventually, that all paid off because she is now potentially in the line up for L.U.V.
