— CHOI  DAYEON.
Katti / kattirompa) / 3
NICKNAMES. —
♚ — Yongdam - a nickname from her grandmother. Meaning "bellflower", Dayeon used to care for these in her grandmother's garden. Sometimes Sungjoon will also call her this, having grown up with her as well. If she is just passing through and someone asks her for her name, she'll often just tell them Yongdam before moving on.

AGE — 23
BIRTHDAY — March 17

BIRTH PLACE — Daegu
HOMETOWN — Wandering. She inherited a decent amount of money so she doesn't worry too much about finding permaneance. Hotels, hostels, etc are her homes anymore, and she wanders all across South Korea.

ETHNICITY — Korean
LANGUAGES

♚ — Korean; ) Native

— FACEPAINT.
FACE CLAIM — Min Dohee

BACK UP FACE CLAIM — Jo Boah

APPEARANCE — Tiny and petite, barely reaching 155cm, Dayeon is very unassuming and honestly easily overlooked. Perfect. Dark hair, dark eyes, a neutral expression on her face, Dayeon is definitely more on the cute side if anything on the attractive scale. But her perpetual dark, if not neutral, expression tends to scare people away.

STYLE — Oversized sweaters and sweatshirts, big jackets with large pockets, tights, hat. Her staples. Dayeon hates drawing attention to herself, so she tries to basically hide herself within her clothing. No loud patterns or colors. Just simple, big clothing. She often chooses shoes suitable for walking and running, avoiding most heels. She also avoids most extravagent things, including jewelry. She looks like someone constantly on the move who might just have everything they need in their pockets (which she tends to do: hence big pockets!).

— SHARP AS A PENCIL.
PERSONALITY
♚ Verbose, Illusive, Pragmatic, Realist, Brusque, Dedicated, Maganimous

"Let's talk more about you." Dayeon doesn't mince words when it comes to herself. She is ever able to speak a whole lot about just anything, and still manage to keep herself from sahying much about anything personal. It's a gift really: the gift of gab. But don't tell Dayeon that. She would just scoff and say she's just good at talking about nothing. Give her a topic, and even if she doesn't know exactly what to say about it, Dayeon is amazing at making it seem like she knows everything about it. It's an excellent tactic to make you forget you were talking about her, and she often gets your to talk more about yourself. Excellent. This is what she wants. Terribly secretive, Dayeon has just become unwilling to comment too often on herself from years of being told she was "crazy". So instead, she gets you talking about yourself.

But Dayeon, when pressed, comes off as abrupt and brusque, borderline rude even. She may be verbose when in a talkative mood, but the moment she thinks someone is getting just a little too interested in her business, she quickly shuts it down and ends the conversation. With little regard for the more frivolous things in life, Dayeon views things as useful or superflous too easily. She chooses to leave the dreaming to the daydreamers. Her concern is survival and mainting control. Because she believes in the idea of anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. She doesn't see the glass even half empty: it's filled with useless gas. She can be downright gloomy at times if she lets herself linger too long on these sorts of thoughts. She is a realist though. The one who will bring everyone back to reality quickly. Because if she doesn't, there is too high a risk of things going out of control.

And despite her desire to be aloof and isolated, Dayeon can't refuse someone in need. Perhaps she inherited something from her grandmother afterall. Unwilling to just abandon a person in trouble, despite herself, Dayeon has found herself in a few situations where she gets dragged in and has to defend the weaker party. She can't stand those who torment the weak, and has to fight with herself to not step in when she can. And once Dayeon commits to a task, she commits until the task is complete. A reluctant hero? Sometimes. And sometimes just a frustrated young lady who wants to just be left alone, but still finds herself involing herself. Ugh. Why can't things be simple?

— DRAW MY LIFE.
PAST — Dayeon's parents come from a long line of wealth. Invested in numerous ventures and businesses, you could say Dayeon was born with everything she could want. However, around the time of adolescence, she realized something was not right with herself. Dayeon had always had nightmares. Terrible things where she was leading armies that pillaged and razed everything in sight. And sometimes little Dayeon would tell her mother the flowers she drew actually swayed and moved. Truly they thought she was just an imaginative girl. She began to sketch these scenes, rudementary at first but soon developing into full comic style illustrations. Again, many assumed these images were just stemming from an active imagination. Dayeon loved drawing though, taking art classes and participating in contests. Her room was always filled wall to wall with western comics, Japanese manga, and Korean manhwa. Dayeon had dreams to be the next big name in comics, and filled notebooks with lofty ideas of what she wanted to create later.

Enter her 12th birthday. While in the bathtub, getting ready for her birthday party, Dayeon had her first encounter with the ink. Closing her eyes a moment, she was struck by how cold the water had become. But upon opening her eyes, the water around her had gone black. Her mother found her huddled in a corner when she rushed into the bathroom, crying and sobbing about something in the tub. The ink was gone...for now. Since that day, Dayeon had an uptick in her nightmares. Whereas they only happened every few months at most prior, they now occurred at least once a month. And as she aged, they only increased. At first, Dayeon channeled her fear into her drawings, startling her parents with the increasingly violent and dark illustrations. And sometimes, Dayeon would wake up and find herself still dreaming as black ink dripped down her windows, blocking out the morning sunlight...but these were all dreams, right? She began to see a therapist who assured her she was just having terrors and it would pass eventually. Her parents chided her, corrected her when she tried to say these things felt far too real. And surely they were right. She just needed to be patient and things would get better.

But it only got worse.

At 14, Dayeon was convinced the drawings were moving now. Her warhorse pawed the ground, the backgrounds swayed as if being blown by the wind, and sometimes, with the particularly violent scenes she drew, they lashed out at her hands. The cuts were akin to papercuts at first, easy for Dayeon to hide. Her therapy continued, but when Dayeon began telling them that the drawings were moving and that the ink was beginning to appear in her waking life...now it was time to see doctors. School became unbearable. Dayeon was now that strange girl who clearly was cutting herself for attention. Because now the cuts weren't just paper thin: the latest gash was clear across her forearm and had to have many stiches. It was a warlord with a great glaive that did it. No one believed her that she didn't do it to herself: not even her parents and doctors. Was she really insane?

At 16, her parents were nearly ready to have her committed. Dayeon was withdrawn. She'd thrown away all her art supplies, all her comics, and practically lived in her bare room 24/7. Long gone was their happy child. And things just seemed to get so much worse. Because in reality, Dayeon felt she must be insane, and since no one believed her, she must be wrong. Deny, deny, deny. She pretended nothing at all was happening. The cutting stopped, but now she had more severe nightmares and often avoided rooms in their house altogether because there was too much ink.

Enter her grandmother.

Dahee heard from her son of the trouble he was having with Dayeon. Immediately knowing what was wrong, Dahee left to meet with Dayeon. With a single phrase to Dayeon, Dahee seemingly made the monsters go away:

"I see the ink too."

In quick work, Dayeon was whisked away to live with her grandmother. Dahee, a Shin herself, took it upon herself to be there for other Shin who felt lost. She was a guide, a teacher so no Shin had to feel like they had nowhere to go. She taught Dayeon everything she knew, helping her come into control of her abilities. Many came in and out of their lives, usually briefly, but Dayeon lived happily with her grandmother and Sungjoon, practically Dahee's adoptive grandson for how long her stayed with them. Truthfully, Dahee hoped the pair would continue her work. While they couldn't help all Shin, they could ensure they helped as many as they could. Life was good. Dayeon never fully embraced her grandmother's open way, but she was willing to work hard and support her grandmother. Since being with her, the nightmares were gone, the ink had barely appeared, and she felt a little less scared to try her hand at drawing again.

And then her grandmother passed away, having fallen ill. Everything she owned was left to Dayeon. Distraught and feeling lost,  Dayeon watched as ink began to flow from the windows of the home she dearly loved. Dayeon left her peaceful home and just wandered. She had to escape the ink somehow.

PRESENT — Wandering, a life in transience. With her grandmother's fortune supporting her, Dayeon keeps a moving from place to place, city to city. Seoul, then Daegu, Busan, to Jeju, to Mokpo, everywhere and anywhere. With her grandmother's death, Dayeon is afraid that the "monsters" will come back. She avoids drawing, avoids letting people get close enough to question her, and simply keeps herself isolated. To be fair, the ink and nightmares haven't been bothering her since she has been travelling...or so she tells herself. The nightmares have come back, though far tamer than before.

TRIVIA —

- When uncomfortable or distressed, Dayeon tends to laugh. It's a nervous laugh, but can throw people off if they aren't prepared for it.
- Dayeon loves plants, especially flowers.
- She is quite skilled at drawing comic and manhwa style. Prior to her awakening as a Shin, she wanted to be a comic artist.
- Despite being reluctant to draw and often just flat out refusing to, Dayeon does have a set of 3, primary color sharpies in her bag at all times. Old habits die hard.
- Dayeon's hands have various little scars, but she has one long one across her right forearm from wrist to elbow.
- She usually wears a black brimmed hat.
- She eats a lot, and can surprise with the amount she eats considering her petite frame.

— LOOK AROUND.
FAMILY —
Grandmother / Choi Dahee / Deceased / Patient, Sagacious, Practical
The person Dayeon cared the most about in the world up until her death 2 years ago. Considered an eccentric who lived away from others in the countryside outside of Seoul, she was an avid gardener and philanthropist. She worked most of her life giving to others, including sponsoring many children and fosters. A very noble woman. She herself was a woken shin, and while her son never showed any awakened abilities

Parents / Choi Daesu, Lee Sunae / 52, 47 / Strict, Realists, Stubborn, Skeptics
Very much absent in their daughter's life these days, they raised Dayeon as well as they could. But they refused to believe that there was truth in what their daughter claimed. For a long time, they sent her to therapists, tried to be supportive, but never believed her. They truly thought there was something wrong with her. Arguably, these two are largely to blame for Dayeon's mistrust in others: if her own parents never tried to understand, why would the rest of the world? Her parents are alive and well, and sometimes they call Dayeon to check on her. Since Dayeon was the sole inheritor to her Grandmother's fortune, she has little need to connect with them. But truthfully they also want her to come home.

FRIENDS — .
Friend and Confidante / Kwak Sungjoon / 21 / Boisterous, Awkward, Scholarly
A weak shin who lived with her grandmother. He shared the household with her and her grandmother up until her death. He continues to maintain her house out in the country, but is also a university student in Seoul studying history. He was abandoned by his family and taken in by Dahee when he was 15 when his abilties of being a Shin awakened and they could not handle it, depsite him being fairly weak. He is a warm fellow who really has a lot of energy, but also tends to embarass himself easily. If you ever need to know something, Sungjoon probably has an answer. He often calls to check on Dayeon, and often tries to convince  her to come back "home" and help him carry on her grandmother's legacy of taking in and watching out for outher wayward Shin.

— PAPER HEART
STRENGTH — The stronger end of weak nearing the weaker end of strong. In her early teens, it appeared to be fairly strong, but the reality is that it was mostly unstable. With understanding, the "strength" seemed to lessen, but what it really meant was she was coming closer to her natural state and understanding how to have better control.

STABILITY — on the lower end of stable. Since the death of her grandmother and being on the move, Dayeon hasn't really been willing to embrace her gifts as she once did. Because of this, her stability seems to be waning. Dayeon assumes she can just will the ink away, and pretend it doesn't exist. But this actually tends to have the opposite effect. There was a time when her stability was phenomenal, and honestly, thanks to her grandmother's teachings, Dayeon could probably be a good teacher to others who are unsure of how to control their skill. She needs to rediscover this honestly.

— APPLICANT
or another OC

SUMMARY — Honestly any other applicant you'd like to pair her with would work out well. I even toyed with the idea of her having a one sided crush on Donghyun, so play with that if you like! Otherwise, even using Sungjoon from her friends section could work.

— LOOK OUT.
FIRST MEETING —NA
RELATIONSHIP —NA
CONCLUSION — I leave it to you!

— LOOK NOW.
FAMOUS LAST WORDS — so sorry this was late! Thank you for your patience and I spologize in advance for this...this THING.

SCENE SUGGESTIONS — Maybe a scene of Dayeon teaching another character how to embrace their abilities, much like how her grandmother taught her, and thereby finding a balance in herself again? And I think if she befriended Minjung that would be awesome.
