On the July 22 episode of 'Knowing Brothers', EXO members recalled their initial impressions of D.O. when they first met him.

As D.O. looked nervous, Chanyeol started off by saying, "The first impression wasn't very good. D.O. had really bad eyesight that when he looked at people, it appeared as if he was glaring at them." D.O. then explained himself, "My astigmatism is really bad. I can't wear contact lenses because they're so uncomfortable and I couldn't wear glasses at the time so I was looking at people like this (makes an evil looking glaring face)."

Chanyeol continued, "Before our debut, we took our profile pictures and were walking back home when we met Suho and Kai. We asked them where they were going and they said they were going to eat. So I said, why don't we all go? Me and Kyungsoo (D.O.). Then Kai whispered into Suho's ears and said he didn't want to go eat with D.O."

Kai responded, "He was glaring at me so much I thought he didn't like me. Also, because I'm shy with new people, I didn't like eating with people who I was uncomfortable with. But, after two days of saying that, I became really close with D.O."
