One year
Today marks one year since my grandfather passed away. Some of my family and I shared memories of him tonight.
It's hard to believe it's already been a year. Time passes so fast it's not funny.
Let me tell you a little about my grandparents. They were 18 and 14 1/2 when they got married. They ran away to get married ;) my uncle was born less than a year later. Later, unable to have any more biological children, they went on to adopt five kids, of which my father was the first, and they cared for I believe nearly one hundred foster children.
They had hard times and good times, but through it all they stayed together and were married for almost 60 years.
My grandfather wrote my grandmother a note that she has kept in her Bible ever since she received it, which has now been almost 13 years ago. Tonight, she read that and I felt honored to be one of the few who got to hear what it said. My grandpa told her not to tell anyone about it, but she didn't think he'd mind now ;) I won't divulge what it contained, but believe me when I tell you it was incredibly sweet :')
My grandma shared quite a few things that my grandpa did or said and I never realized how romantic my grandfather was. It wasn't until he was gone that I realized what a good role model and such he was for me :'(
I miss him, but I know he's happier than he's ever been. I wouldn't wish for him to be back here and in so much pain again.
I love you, Grandpa <3
