Author/Fanfiction Q&A

Sorta bored, my brain needs a break to get its creative juices flowing again, and I thought this Q&A would be perfect to have an insight on just... My style/thoughts on my own writing.

So yeah. Have fun reading~ To me, reading these just helps me understand the authors more and it's really interesting :D

P.S, I stole this from eunichii [x]

P.P.S, I edited this b/c typos are the ultimate , and somehow one of my favorite authors got deleted D:

P.P.P.S, I went back and put some hyperlinks where they should have been D:

Feel free to steal <3

Author Questions:

Is there anything you regret writing?
I wouldn't say 'regret', more so I could have done better with it. Some things didn't turn out the way I envisioned it in my head, and that's why I either put stories in a draft or scraped it all together.

Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.
Ohhh that's super hard... Because I have a bunch of unreleased fanfictions that I enjoyed writing a lot, and there are stories that I've uploaded that I love writing a lot too...

But if I had to choose from my posted ones, I'd choose "Cinnamon Wind" or "Tomorrow's Cantabile".

"Cinnamon Wind" just lets my mind take a break from all the more 'mature' things in life and lets me focus on the innocence kids have while they're younger. And making cute, fluffy scenarios with Kindergarten!NCT just makes my heart swoon c:

As for "Tomorrow's Cantabile", yes I know I haven't updated in like, what, over a year? But when I did write it, it gave me soooo much pleasure and happy memories because it was centered around the one thing that can make me the happiest girl in the world, music. I want to start writing it again, but I honestly don't know yet. I felt like I lost inspiration for writing it, so there's a possibility I could just write a whole new music!AU fic altogether.

And as for the unreleased ones, it'd either be "Morning Star/A Love Like The Light (I still haven't decided on the title lol)", "Allure's Way" or "Symphony".

What's your most popular fanfiction?
In terms of views, subscribers, comments, and upvotes, that'd be "Play Bunny". I'd like to revisit it someday and possibly revise it, but that's undecided for now >.<

How do you come up with your fanfiction titles?
To be completely honest, I come up with the title before the summary a lot more than the summary before the title.

Most of them come from things I see or hear, or even from my own thoughts. Take "Paper Flowers" for example, it was a random thought that passed through my mind and I took it and ran. And then "The Courage Test" was inspired by Seventeen's OFD. But there are stories like "A Bunny's Contentment" and "Switch" were decided after  I wrote the description.

What do you hate more: Coming up with titles or writing summaries?
Well.  I hate doing both sometimes. But, writing a good summary is a bit more difficult to do, because I have to sum up what will happen while still trying to be intriguing and then I try my best to keep it short and sweet and it's just urrggghhhhhhhh;  infuriating sometimes.

Titles are frustrating too, because it has to relate to the entire story. Like I can't name a story "Daybreak" and have it be about a cupcake shop in the land of Oz -- the title doesn't suit the story. But it is easier for me to come up with a title than write up a summary.

If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of?
Ohhh that's actually a really good question.

I'd love for someone to draw a scene from "Cinnamon Wind"! Or just make like, a comic strip of all the key points of each drabble, that'd be the cutest thing ever >.<

That entire collection, to me, is just fanart worthyyyyy~ I'd be forever thankful and in debt to anyone who would actually take the time to bring my stories to life.

Do you have a beta reader? Why/why not?
Personally, I don't think I need a beta reader. Most of the proofreading I do myself, and plus I use Grammary to check for grammatical . The majority of my chapters are under 4k words, and I would really only hire a beta reader if it's over like 5-6k words and it gets harder to pick out the tiny details.

I still find typos when I read over my fanfictions, but you can still understand the story just fine :D (I think LMAO)

What inspires you the most?
MUSIC. Music is the answer to my ing life-- If I find a lyric in a song/a title that I really like, I'll take it and build upon it.

Occasionally, my own thoughts inspire me or stories I recall reading will give me nice ideas for fanfiction, but I'd say music inspires me the most.

What's the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?

I honestly really love the comments from "Phone Problem". It makes me feel all fluffy on the inside when I re-read the comments from that story c: It's perfect because that's one of the stories that I'm the super proud of writing.

Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?
I'll either listen to the group I'm writing about (i.e. "Seventeen" if I'm writing about Junhao or Meanie) or I'll just put my playlist on shuffle. Either that or I'll put the song that inspired that fanfiction on repeat. Memorize the freaking song until I can recite it XD

Do you write oneshots, multi-chapter fics or huuuuuge epics?
I write a lot of oneshots, and I try to keep my multi-chapter fics at a minimum because Lord knows I will not update regularly. I have mastered the art of something called "spontaneous updating" so I'll update randomly with no consistency at all LOL screech gET EPICS AWAY FROM ME I'VE BEEN TRAUMATIZED FROM TRYING TO WRITE ONE FOR "THE ODDESSY"

What’s the word count on your longest fic?
Ehh... Probably "Panda's Parfait". That one shot had like, what, 10k words? I think? The last time I checked it did >.<

Do you write drabbles? If so, what do you normally write them about?
I have a drabble collection called "Cinnamon Wind" (lmao I've mentioned this fanfiction too much throughout this Q&A), and it's about NCT!Toddlers daily adventures with cute lil' Tennie the Toddler ;D

What's your favorite genre to write?
Fluff or Slice of Life c: They make my heart swoon and it's just hnngggg SO PRECIOUS!!!

Don't get me wrong. I still love reading/writing , but its too much for my brain to handle sometimes >///<

First person or third person - what do you write in and why?
I've written one fanfiction that used first person, and that was "Understanding The Demon's Hearts". It was the style I had back then, and it was the easiest thing for me to do. Plus, I think writing a SungjongxAll fanfiction would have been 110% easier than writing in third person.

But I've since changed to third person because I like to write about all the characters thoughts/what's actually happening, rather than focus on the mind of one character. Plus, third person is what you'd usually see inside of a drama/movie and I try to make it cinematic like that.

Do you use established canon characters or do you create OCs?
I use canon, but I've used like one or two OC characters. I plan to possibly interpret an OC character for "Devenous" and "Hide" more but IDK yet :D

What is your greatest strength as a writer?
Fluff? I honestly think I'm a writer so IDK my strengths

What do you struggle the most with in your writing?
Everything, basically. I try and get things done when the ideas are fresh in my head, but I'm a major procrastinator so LOL

Is there anyone in your fandom who really inspires you?
Awww... But I practically admire everyone who writes about any Ten or Minghao ship :c But it'd probably have to be peizhuxuan or SparkleUniXing

What ship do you feel needs more attention?
JUNHAO.

What is your all time favourite fanfic?
Basically any that was bolded in the fanfiction list are my favorites >.<

If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?
Ahm.... I'd probably recommend "
Phone Problem", "Cinnamon Wind", or the "February Air" series. Again, "Phone Problem" was a fanfiction I was genuinely proud of, "Cinnamon Wind" is a fanfiction I find great joy in writing, and the "February Air" oneshots are two stories I actually enjoyed writing a lot as well.

I feel like the more enjoy writing the story, the more the readers will enjoy it as well :D

Do you leave reviews when you read fanfiction? Why/Why not?
If by "reviews" you mean what I thought about the chapter (i.e. what moments I liked/how I felt) then yes--

I like to give feedback, because that's the kind of things I'd like to receive back whenever people leave comments on my fanfictions. Plus, complimenting an author who works hard just makes them feel more appreciated. Whether it be a "popular" fanfiction or a "small" one, I always try to leave a comment often :D

Do you care if people comment your writing? Why/why not?
I still do care about people comment on my stories! It shows whether or not people like it, without me looking at the subscription/view/upvote count D: And plus, I can get actual feedback from someone who reads my stories; so I know what I'm doing nicely and things that I could make happen >.<

But for stories I know won't get many comments, like if it's a ship that's an "unpopular" (like "Hide") or if the story itself isn't something I'm not 110% happy with then yeah, I won't expect much from those.

How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?
I think my first ship was Neo, but I actually started investing into reading fanfictions when I read "Beast Within Me". I remember how heartbroken I was when she took it down like 2 years ago, so then I started looking for more Taoris stories and thus lead to me falling into a world of binge reading fanfictions.

As for writing, I think I was reading a Myungjong story or "NIGHTMARE", and I got inspiration to write a SungjongxAll fanfiction.
Funny thing is, I created a story for the story, and I didn't know that I actually posted the story (I thought it was in draft mode) and I remember being so ing happy when I saw people comment/subscribe to me unexpectedly >.<

49. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!
Love: I love things that actually have some kind of plot or some kind of story line that continues to make the story worth reading! Especially if I can feel extreme emotions when reading a fanfiction, like me crying while reading angst or me squealing so loudly I wake my family up; it shows that I genuinely got attached to the story and fell in love with it~ Oh, and if someone can create a unique concept, or if someone can take an overly used concept but make it their own. Like it isn't like any other story of the same genre I've read, I actually really really really like c:

Hate: Number one pet peeve when reading a fanfiction: IT'S HARD TO READ. I'll always give a fanfiction a chance, but I cannot stand it when it's hard to read! Like, if there are no paragraphs and it's all one huge long blob, or if everything is poorly spaced out; it makes me click out faster than Ten in that coconut-chicken game thingy.

Ohhh and if it doesn't stick to the plot D: Like if the description tells me it's about an arranged marriage, why the are there super hero's saving the planet from evil Matoki's? It doesn't make any sense to have made the description accentuating there's an arranged marriage, and then there's one chapter about the arranged marriage and then the rest is superheroes fighting in space.

And glorifying dark things like or domestic abuse :( It's pretty damn obvious, just no.
