K-bops
I was originally planning to post this back in July and then forgot about it. Oh well.
Most people know I'm an EXO-L, but I thought I'd recommend some songs I really like from groups that aren't that well known. These aren't totally unknown groups (for the most part); most are sort of mid-tier, I guess?
Anyway, here are eight of my favourite songs that aren't *that* well known. Or deserve a lot more notice.
First up is What U by Speed. This is the most listened-to K-pop song on my phone. It kind of reminds me of Gangster's Paradise.
Can't Sleep, Am Hungry by 9MUSES. I am so sad this didn't make it big.
Taola by B.I.G. Most of their releases are pretty solid but this is by far my favourite (and they are so slept on, OMG).
Apple Pie by Fiestar. This was just fun from start to finish.
Shake It, Shake It by Road Boyz. Yes, I like swing throwbacks. Bite me.
Windy Day by Oh My Girl. Yes, I know they're now getting faily big, but these are my favourite rookies from that batch and they really experiment with their musical style with every comeback (and I still listen to Closer several times a week - I had a hard time choosing between that and Windy Day for this list). The subsequent cultural appropriation they used to promote the song was a downer, but the song itself is enjoyable.
Better Day by 100%. I've followed these guys since their debut (which was great, even though I wasn't fond of their follow-up songs), but despite losing two members I think they've consolidated on their strengths in this release. Watch the lives if you want the choreography (their lives are usually impressive). The instrumental to this song is also great (if you can find it to listen to, because TOPmedia did not choose a name that youtubes well).
You Bad! Don't Make Me Cry by Mathilda. I will... admit to being a bit puzzled by the English at the beginning of that (it's a very literal translation from the Korean), but this is a fun song. And one of the members was originally in Kiss&Cry (and I am still salty that Kiss&Cry disbanded).
If you knew all eight of these songs already, congrats! Have a bonus from a gorgeous soloist you might recognise from Moon Lovers, because seriously, Z.Hera is so slept on.
