SHINee's Jonghyun strongly expresses his disapproval against the Korean government's new changes

A controversy is brewing in South Korea regarding the recent decision by President Park Geun Hye, who is now mandating the replacement of textbooks in middle and high schools with a "government sanctioned" text entitled 'The Correct Textbook of History.' Conservatives are protesting that the textbook places too much emphasis on ideology and the nation's authoritarian past over North Korea's communist totalitarianism.

It appears the textbook is deemed to be a biased review of the past with people suspecting that this was a propagandist move on the behalf of Park's family history as it would shed them in a more improved light.

Many people have plenty to say about this, including SHINee's Jonghyun, who is not known to shy away from voicing his opinion on social or political matters.  He publicized via Twitter, "So they say they're going to reduce the school system in the beginning, middle, and end for induced birth... so they say they're going to produce a government textbook... After having a baby in such a policy, I would not have the confidence to raise [that child] into a human with a healthy mentality and body.  I'm not saying I do not want a child, rather I am scared to have a child."

Jonghyun has spoken!  He, among many other South Koreans, are protesting what the government is trying to do.  What are your thoughts?

Figures. Every country has a past, a history and South Korea is not different. The tension still exists between the North and South, but I'm straying from the topic. The propaganda South Korea is now embarking on is not as severe as North Korea but slowly and surely they are doing it. North Korea may be a horrible place, but that is no reason to keep the shadow of that past and try to emphasize their dominance. Education in schools should be a refuge for openness, free thought and opinions on history. Kids shouldn't have to be forced to learn a supposedly correct textbook on history because no such book or concept exists. It's not good for young minds. History is always a two sided account. This book shouldn't be published nor this decision ever put forth.

This is a form of censorship and propoganda, plain and simple. It shouldn't be allowed, schools are for education and development not training kids to think exactly what you want them to think.
This kind of stuff happens way too much all around the world but the fact that the South Korean government are enforcing it in schools is incredibly distressing to me.

I agree with him. Every country has a textbook that is very biased, especially if that textbook is made by the government. It's like taking history here in America and we call people like Christopher Columbusheroes when they are cruel thieves and murderers. and in China they like to shy away from the topic of Tienanmen Square. And in some countries I've heard they avoid talking about the Holocaust and the Armenian genocide as if it never happened. So yeah, I think Jonghyun is right. I would be scared to race my child in a country too if I knew it would be brainwashed.
