sweet: yoonji the type of girl all mothers want their sons to end up with. she's nice and respectful to all people, no matter who they are. it's almost as if she doesn't have a judgemental bone in her body. this is both good and bad because the wolrd isn't full of nice people.  she likes helping other, and some people take advantage this part of her nature. She's also a bit of a people pleaser; she hates the thought of being disliked by her peers.

Pushover: sure, she has her own opinions. but once someone expresses something that is different from hers, yoonji quickly agrees with them. over the years, it's become harder for her to even voice her opinions. she easily goes along with people's ideas, even if the idea isn't a good one. which has landed her in some sticky situations with the basketcases, but let's not talk about that. yoonji avoids confrontation like the plauge; it makes her extremely nervous and sick to her stomach. she's easily taken advantage of because of her lack of will to confront others about things she's uncomfortable with.

level-headed: calm, cool, and collected. it seems like yoonji always has it together despite having a submissive character. she always has a smile on her face, and it's almost as if nothing phases her. she shows the right amount of emotion for every situation. she hasn't cried in front of anyone since she was little girl. yoonji all around just handles things well. mature for her age, she tries to think things through. she's also very good at controlling her expressios so it's hard to read her feelings. so, if you ever see her having any kind of meltdown, she's reached her limit, and that's how you know just got real.

self-conscious: this ties into her pushover part of her personality. yoonji is very self-concious on how she appears to others. she doesn't want to do anything that may upset them in any way that would cause them to confront her. she's constantly over thinking and analyzing things. even when she has something to say, she might not even say it so not to hurt anyone and thinks her opinion insignificant. she hardly does anything for herself, which is why she doesn't know what she truly wants in life.

honest: yoonji doesn't like telling lies. it's just not something she does, even though she is good at hiding her feelings so no one would ever be able to tell if she was lying or not. if you ask her a question, she will give you an honest answer. this trait isn't to be confused with being blunt. she tells the truth as gentely as possible. she doesn't like hurting people with the truth. the only times she has ever lied were times when she was coerced into it.

teasing: yoonji may be mature, but not to the point where she doesn't joke around with her friends. she likes jokes just as must as the next person. her teasing and jokes are harmless and all in good fun. of course, she is careful not to offend anyone. she usually makes witty side comments or adds on to an ongoing joke. she's terrible at telling actual jokes, so she doesn't even try.

changes: Yoonji is self-aware to an extent. She does get tired of helping people, but it's hard for her to say no. She doesn't know if the person will become angry or not. sometimes it's so obvious someone is taking advantage of her and she wishes she could say no, and other times it really seems like the person is genuine and she's glad to help. the basketcases try to watch out for the first ones. when it comes to opinions, she usually doesn't voice hers unless she is asked directly, and she'll give an honest answer. she feels that her ideas are boring and mundane, and that someone will definitely come up with something better any. these traits tie into why she wants to learn to say "no" and to stand up for herself and her opinions.

life story in a nutshell »

yoonji was born in Daegu. She moved to Seoul when she was 5 years old because her father's job transferred him. her family consists of four people; herself, her parents, and her older brother. she was always the obedient child because the rebellious role was filled by her brother. yoonji witnessed all the stress he caused their parents, and she didn't want to cause the same pain. so she became their good little girl; their 'angel'. her parents aren't mean or abusive, she just never wanted to disappoint them by acting like her brother. other than her brtoher being himself and being mean like a sterotypical brother, yoonji lived a normal life with loving parents. she made good grades all through school, never skipped, and always did as she was told. when she first started school in seoul, she was teased some for having an accent, but it wasn't anything too harsh. in upper grades, some people would question why she was friends with someone as popular as "on the pursuit of happiness," but the basketcases were there to defend her. her family isn't necessarily wealthy, but they do have some money. her father works for a large company; her mother a smaller company. the song's are upper-middle class, but don't flaunt it.

her love for singing started when she was about 13. it sort of just happened, and she isn't really sure how. her parents were happy that she picked up a hobby and encouraged her. she never really took lessons, unless youtube counts. thanks to birthdays and christmas, she now has the equipment necessary to record song covers in her room.  

she was initially shy. even before the song family moved to seoul, she didn't have many friends and liked to play by herself. her parents were surprised when she came home one day and said she made her frist friend, "on the pursuit of happiness." getting to know the other basketcases was a slow process because she was timid around them, but eventually got used to their unique personalities and opened up to them and grew to like them. one friendshe liked in particular was  "ohana means family" because he would save her when kids picked on her because of her Daegu accent or any time she needed saving, really. she actually had a crush on him for a bit, but quickly got over that. he fathered her too much. of course, he doesn't know this piece of information, and he never will. ever. 

for a while now, yoonji has wanted to change herself. she doesn't know how exactly, but she wants to be different. she's tired of being the just the good girl. and with college quickly approaching and no idea what to major in, yoonji wants to do some serious soul seeking. now that the group is talking about making lists of goals they want to accomplish, she figures she might as well go all out. this is what leads to her letting out a wild side she didn't know she had. she enjoys the rush of adrenaline she feels from acting like the characters she reads about in books. her friends worry that this soul seeking could get dangerous and try to watch out for her as she starts changing into a wild girl. the change isn't permanent, but she does learn about herself along the way. ultimately, yoonji's soul seekings leads her to be more independent and confident in herself and her abilities as an individual. she will become less of a pushover and will start thinking of herself more.

BEST FRIEND » on the pursuit of happiness
their story » this was the first person she yoonji when they moved into the neighborhood. she didn't have any friends and was extremely shy. yoonji thought "on the pursuit of happiness" was pretty and thought it was be nice to have a pretty friend (boys can be pretty too). She wanted to make "on the pursuit of happiness" like her, so she did everything they asked. over the years, she's been one of the few people that can actually deal with "on the pursuit of happiness" and is the more rational of the two. Now, "on the pursuit of happiness" doesn't order her around too much, knowing how much of a pushover she is. they also stand up for her when they need to.

the other basketcases » 

— ( it's all about the money ) : the two are close. they are basically the same on how they would do anything for anyone in need. they also share similar worries. she doesn't really like their focus on money, but she understands where they are coming from. 

— ( you snooze, you lose ) : Somehow they've developed a mother-child relationship. they're immature nature always brings a smile to her face, but frustrates her at the same time. they go to her for advice sometimes. 

— ( won't go down without a fight ) : She really admires them. they're sick but they won't just give up on everything. she wishes she had that kind of determination, but first she has to figure out what do be determined about. they haven't completely connected, but she hopes that changes soon. 

— ( fall seven times, stand up eight ) : this is the person she is the least closest to. during their troublemaker days she felt that she couldn't really approach them even though they are friends. they are slowly getting closer, though some conversations are a little awkward.

— ( ohana means family ) : She looks up to him as the brother she wishes she had. since she already has a father, he's more like a brother to her and always makes a joke out of him trying to father her. he stood up for her a lot in elementary school, and she supports him in his decision to find his parents. 
 

relationship » 
- Song jihoo / 25 / independent. sly. arrogant. jokester. / older brother. although he's still rebellious, mean to her, and has moved out, he really loves his little sister. he just has a hard time expressing it. the two aren't very close, but hopefully that will change over the course of yoonji's soul seeking.

- song Jae Suk / 54 / protective. caring. jokester. / Father. he's proud of his daugter and hopes she accomplishes anything and everything in life. he's always been busy with his job, but has managed to make time for his daughter. they have a great bond.

- cha seungyeon / 55 / loving. kind. silly. / Mother. she loves her daugther and is always telling her she can be anything she wants to be and that her parents will be proud of her. The two are extremely close. her mother's intuition tells her that something is bothering Yoonji, but she will wait until Yoonji talks to her about it.

PERSONALITY » He's a bad boy, yes, but he's not comepletely heartless. he cares about people enough not to be cruel to them or make them too uncomfortable. he's quite confident, in both looks and his ablility to attract women and show them a good time (not like that!) he's very open with his thoughts and is good at reading others. he also loves to tease. he's a smooth talker and can actually be very cute unitentionally. he likes to have fun and do whatever he feels like doing. 
THEIR STORY »
— He helps fufill the summer romance yoonji wished for. this is both good and bad because he's more of the bad boy type and is older than her by 3 years. some of the basketcases don't approve of him because they fear he'll completely ruin her innocence. he'll help yoonji cross other things off her grocery list and will ultimately teach her what love is and what love isn't. He also teaches her things about herself because he seems to see right through her mastered facial expressions. they do not end up together because he told her up front that he wouldn't be around for long. he ends up leaving for reasons yoonji doesn't know. whether he actually falls for her she doesn't know either. yoonji is almost positive she'll never see him again, but who knows? all she knows is that she doesn't regret being with him even if she got into trouble with her parents for her odd behavior.
